Frequently Asked Questions

The following list of most frequently asked questions should give you an idea on what to expect from the program and what will be expected of you during your stay. 

  1. What happens at the 72 hour weekend?
    The weekend program is similar to a seminar and is an educational and informational format. Direct instruction, speakers, movies, and individual/group sessions are some activities you will experience during the weekend.  You will be able to interact with other clients as well as professional counselors.
  2. Where will I be staying?
    A hotel location.
  3. What time do I need to be at this program?
    Check-in is Thursday between 5:00 p.m. and 5:45 p.m. The program starts promptly at 6:00 p.m.
  4. Do I need identification?
    Yes.  You will be required to show identification. For clients that do not have a government issued ID, contact our office about alternative options.
  5. Can I drive myself to the site of the DIP weekend?
    Yes, but you must turn in your car keys upon check-in.  We are not responsible for damage to or stolen property from your vehicle.
  6. What do I need to bring to the weekend?
    You will need to bring clothing and any personal hygiene/grooming needs.  A maximum of two pieces of luggage are permitted. Cell phones, laptops, video games, other electronic devices, reading materials, books, magazines, and newspapers are permitted, but are not allowed in the meeting room. Any violation of this policy can result in confiscation of items till the end of the program.
  7. Can I bring my prescriptions?
    Yes, but it will be turned in upon arrival and administered as needed by McIntyre staff. ALL MEDICATIONS MUST BE BROUGHT TO THE PROGRAM IN THEIR ORIGINAL CONTAINERS. 
    Medication must be counted before being turned in, so it is recommended that you bring only the amount you need for the weekend. Any medication out of its original container may be confiscated and disposed of.
  8. Is there a dress code?
    You may wear casual and comfortable clothing.   Hats and hoods are not permitted.  Proper under garments must be worn at all times during the weekend for both men and women. No short shorts, cut-offs, or halter tops. Shoulders and stomach must be covered. No offensive clothing.
  9. Do I need to bring my own food?
    Our program provides breakfast, lunch, and dinner.  You may bring your own snacks only if they are in originally sealed packages. If you have special diet needs that are medically prescribed you need to inform us before the weekend.
  10. Will I be allowed to smoke?
    Smoking is allowed only in designated areas.  If you smoke, please bring enough cigarettes for the ENTIRE WEEKEND. No tobacco items are allowed in the classroom, including but not limited to cigarettes, cigars, pipes, chewing tobacco, dip, and e-cigarettes.
  11. Are there any items I am not allowed to bring?
    DO NOT brings items containing any form of alcohol such as mouthwash, cough syrup and aftershaves.
    Do not bring firearms, knives, or weapons to the program.
    All bags will be inspected by security.
    Contraband will be confiscated and may be disposed of at our discretion.

PLEASE NOTE

  • DO NOT DRINK ALCOHOL AND DO NOT USE RECREATIONAL DRUGS 24 HOURS PRIOR TO COMING TO THE WEEKEND.  You may be tested for alcohol and/or drugs. If you test positive you will be discharged. The court will be notified of your discharge.
  • NO REFUNDS WILL BE GIVEN ONCE RESERVATIONS ARE SCHEDULED.
